a little about me ...
Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, I moved out East in my twenties and stayed for two decades. After studying art at Massachusetts College of Art and Yale, I moved to Brooklyn and eventually had a child. Now, I’m back where I started, in a different suburb of Chicago, a lovely little place called Oak Park.
I’ve been a lot of different things over the years. Waitress, gardener, artist, nanny, friend, sister, aunt, wife, and mother. Strangely, I’ve never really considered myself a photographer. But all along, I’ve been taking pictures - a documentation and expression of my life. It wasn’t until recently that I decided to try to make photography a full-time thing and share something I love with others.
Mostly, I am interested in photographing people, though I have always been interested in considering physical spaces through the camera as well. But what really holds my interest is human interaction and the gaze. As much as I try to fade into the background when photographing others, I’m also always looking to grab that moment when there is an awareness of my presence and your eyes meet the camera. If you have the time when you’re looking through my website, I encourage you to click through the photos one by one. My hope would be that you are as moved by looking into all those beautiful eyes as I was when I took the pictures.
I look forward to meeting you and capturing a moment for you to remember.
